New "Ho Dolls" Appeal to Irresponsible Parents

New York, NY - Toymakers and retailers pulled out all the stops this holiday season by introducing three major lines of dolls aimed at neglectful parents and emotionally immature adults.  The dolls were very successful sellers this past holiday season prompting several unlicensed copies and variations of the dolls to be released.  The dolls are characterized by inappropriate clothing, packaging, and advertising - a combination that has proven irresistible to many children and their parents.

The three major brands of dolls are Flavas, MyScene, and Bratz.  The Flavas and  MyScene dolls are both shamelessly sold by Mattel.  The Bratz dolls, characterized by large heads and pouty lips, are sold by MGA Entertainment.

Dr. Mary Thighmore, a psychologist and professor studying the "Bratz" phenomenon at Georgia Southern University explained her theory for the popularity of the toys, "The dolls naturally appeal to young children who want to dress like Brittany Spears and act like Christine Aguilera ... and their supportive parents."    Dr. Thighmore also pointed out another demographic group buying the toys:  young unhappy adult women who want to act out fantasy relationships.

Dr. Mary Thighmore, who is single and has had a string of unsatisfying relationships recently, admits to purchasing several of the dolls "for research purposes."  Dr. Thighmore also added that early results from interviews with purchasers of the dolls indicated that many young adult women were buying the dolls and acting out "fantasy dream dates" and relationships between the toys.
